Introducing "Lifelines"... a solo exhibition at Grainger Gallery

Its been an interesting year- so much happening behind the scenes and its all here in my new solo exhibition at Grainger Gallery, officially opening on September 17th and participating in the celebration of the Floriade festival in Canberrra.. Want to see the catalogue or purchase in advance? Click here! Otherwise read on to hear more about this body of work.

One of the things I love about birds is how they are living lives with so many paralells to our own- right there in plain sight. Once you tune in and look up you realise they have homes and lives, births, deaths and marriages happening all around us- theres always something to relate to. Even sadly, this year the threat of pandemic illness.

Each of these paintings began with an expedition to see and collect images of our beautiful native birds in their habitat and also to collect flowers and foliage to cast shadows that feature in my designs. Some are more naturalistic, others partly from imagination. If you've followed for a while you will also notice something a new- birds in landscapes. I've had so much fun putting this group together and playing with the hang- some longer narrower works hang beautifully in their own right or make excellent foils and "bookends" to the landscape pieces.

Feel free to get in touch (the "contact" tab) if you'd like some additional information. Otherwise I hope you enjoy this exhibition as much as I have enjoyed painting it.
